The future of the taxi sector under debate in Rome
On July 16, the conference “Taxi, Between Tradition and innovation” took place in Rome, organized by the TaxiEurope Alliance (TEA), the European association that brings together taxi operators.
After a few welcoming words from the vice president of TEA, Loreno Bittarelli and the president, Miguel Ángel Leal (center, in the image), the first-round table of the Conference was held, dedicated to the obligation the taxi has as a public service. It involved experts from the sector, such as Elisabeth Wener, Director of Land Transport of the European Commission or Gian Michele Roberti, professor at the University of Rome La Sapienza, policy makers on mobility, such as David Sassoli, MEP and member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and Linda Meleo, Deputy Mayor responsible for mobility in Rome.
In the second-round table, dedicated to the urban electric transport, the mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi and the Eurodeputy Miriam Dalli participated. The event concluded with some notes from the Italian Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Danilo Toninelli.
In addition to this important conference, the Board of Directors and the first General Assembly of TEA met on that same day, naming Emiliano Alonso (right, in the image), managing partner of Alonso & Asociados, legal and political adviser of the international association. This appointment comes after a long career of Mr. Alonso in legal advice and defense of the interests of the taxi sector at a European level.
